We help foreign patients living in Korea and overseas to use medical services in Asan Medical Center, for both with the Korean National Insurance Coverage holder (NHIS) and a private insurance coverage holder with international insurance companies.

Billing Process

There are two ways that you can use your insurance coverage while getting the medical services at Asan Medical Services.

Billing Process.1

When you hold a Korean National Insurance Coverage(NHIS), you can bring a referral letter issued by a local doctor.
You will need to see a family medicine doctor first at International Healthcare Center at Asan Medical Center.

Billing Process.2

We help you by billing directly to your insurance company on behalf of you when you do not hold a Korean National Insurance Coverage (NHIS).
For this, please contact your insurance company to make sure you understand benefits and plans that you are covered:

  • Confirm that Asan Medical Center is a contracted provider of services for your plan
  • Request and obtain a Guarantee of payment letter, if it is required by your insurance company
  • Confirm any limitation or exclusion of the guarantee of the payment letter

Preparation of medical records for insurance claim

Medical certificate [ex : medical report, physician’s statement, birth certificate, etc..]

  • Please ask for medical certificate in advance before your consultation.
  • You can ask for your doctor directly and doctor will write your requested medical certificate in English.
  • You can get medical certificate at billing office after payment.
