The Asan Medical Center (AMC) occupied the top position among 35 specialized hospitals and general hospitals in Korea in nine out of ten cancer (Stomach Cancer,Liver Cancer, Lung Cancer, Cervix Cancer, Breast Cancer, Ovary Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Rectal Cancer, Colon Cancer, Thyroid Cancer) surgeries except lung cancer. According to the 2007 Yearbook published by the Korean Network for Organ Sharing (KONOS), an arm of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, 2360 organ transplants were performed in Korea of which the AMC performed 621 cases, the highest mark among medical institutions. The gap with the second rated hospital was as many as 258 cases.
The AMC Emergency Care Center rated top among 85 Emergency Patient Care Providers in all three evaluation categories of staff, facility and equipment. The evaluation was conducted by the National Emergency Medical Center (NEMC) in 2004 at the request of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs.
