Hello. I am Yasir Mohammed Nouri. I work at the King Abdula Medical Complex, Saudi Arabia as the Section Chief of the Department of Radiology and Interventional Radiology. The King Abdula Medical Complex has 500 beds and is a general hospital located in the northern part of Jeddah. I received training at AMC from April 1, 2016, to May 31, 2018. My academic advisors at the time were Professor Ji Hoon Shin and Professor Hye Won Chung at the Department of Radiology.
What did you learn during the training period?
I completed training for two different areas at AMC. The first was musculoskeletal radiology and the second was angiography and vascular interventional procedures. For two years, I was able to learn from excellent professors to access the latest medical knowledge and innovative procedure techniques. I am very thankful to my academic advisors, Professor Shin and Professor Chung, who taught me many things about radiology on the whole. The knowledge and experience I acquired from the training are helping me a lot as I work in Saudi Arabia.

Did you put any of the training experience to use in Saudi Arabia?
After my training at AMC was completed, I was hired by the King Abdula Medical Complex as the first full-time interventional radiologist. I introduced a number of medical technologies, including transcatheter embolization for traumatic organs, uterine artery embolization, other gynecological and urological procedures, central venous access for dialysis, diagnostic biopsy, and various types of drainage collector. I further plan to apply my abundant experience and knowledge so that Saudi Arabian patients can also be offered high-level medical services that I observed and learned myself at AMC.

How would you describe your training at AMC?
AMC is one of the largest hospitals with a very high number of beds, outpatients, surgeries, and interventional procedures. To work here is advantageous in that you are exposed to treating various diseases, which advances your experience and skills as a doctor in a short period of time. I would like to advise other medical scientists abroad that they will be so fortunate to be given an opportunity to receive training in AMC.

What is your plan for the future?
I plan to expand our department’s interventional radiology capability through, for example, the application of interventional radiology for tumors. There are so many people I am grateful to for my two years at AMC. I would like to express my gratitude to the professors who taught me about high-level medical technologies, colleagues I worked with and many staff members who helped me out in many ways.
