
Dr. Joon Pio Hong the Director of International Affairs in Asan Medical Center
attends New York banquet in honor of medical progress in Korea

Dr. Joon Pio Hong, the Director of International Affairs in Asan Medical Center, participated in the Korea Healthcare
Banquet, an event that took place in New York City on March 31 under the auspices of Korea�셲 Ministry of Health
and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI).
The event, on the theme of �쏷he Past, Present and Future of Medical Korea: Commemorating 50 Years of Modern
Medical Progress,�� was held in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of the Minnesota Project of the United States
Agency for International Development (USAID).
Including Soo-Hee Chin, Korea�셲 Minister of Health & Welfare, over 350 people were in attendance, among them
officials representing the Korean Hospital Association, the U.S. government, and other related organizations
and agencies.
Dr. Hong reported on AMC�셲 outstanding clinical indicators, such as its surgical success rate, as well as AMC�셲
social contribution activities, like training of foreign medical scholars and medical technology transfer in developing
countries.
