Childhood allergic disorders are the most common chronic disease that has been rapidly increasing worldwide for the past two or three decades and sharply rising even in Korea.

In recent years, as people are getting more interested in allergic diseases in children, the government and medical community strive to address the problems of patients and their families.

Although the declining birth rate has led to a decrease in the number of children, the demand for treatment of severe chronic respiratory diseases in children remains steady, while the availability of medical institutions capable of meeting this demand is insufficient. Additionally, allergic conditions such as asthma, atopic dermatitis, and food allergies continue to show high prevalence, with a growing demand for personalized treatment tailored to each individual rather than standardized approaches. In response, we have renamed the Childhood Asthma·Atopy Center to the more comprehensive ‘Childhood Respiratory and Allergy Center,’ with the goal of serving as a central institution for the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric respiratory and allergic diseases in Korea.

Childhood allergic disorders are chronic diseases requiring continuous care based on accurate diagnosis under the long-term treatment plan.

Therefore we do our best to bring a light of hope to patients and their families during the long period of treatment process.

We hope patients as well as their families lead “quality life” as they can learn of accurate information about the diseases on the Childhood Respiratory and Allergy Center website and receive proper treatment and management of atopic diseases.

Allergic diseases including asthma, atopic dermatitis, and allergic rhinitis have been on a rapid rise for recent decades and require long-term treatment as the representative childhood chronic diseases.

However parents tend to stop receiving treatment and turn to other folk remedies with the desire to fully cure it as quickly as possible. To effectively treat allergic diseases, noting is more important than proper understanding and continuous treatment and management of the diseases. In other words, constant monitoring and treatment are required like diabetes and hypertension in adults.

Accordingly, AMC Childhood Respiratory and Allergy Center will play a leading role in accurate diagnosis and treatment and constant management of childhood allergic disorders.

We will not only suggest personalized treatment plan through fast examinations by using cutting-edge medical equipment and collaborating with specialists in pediatric allergy and respiratory diseases as well as otolaryngology, ophthalmology, and obstetrics and gynecology, but also offer constant monitoring of patients through counseling with and education by nutritionists, pharmacists, and coordinators.
