Why should you receive precision cancer treatment in AMC?
AMC has opened the Center for Precision Cancer Medicine (CPCM) in December 2012 for the first time in Korea to apply the results of biomedical research to clinical settings based on experience in cancer treatment and treatment outcomes. The ASAN Center for Cancer Genome Discovery (ASAN-CCGD) which was built in 2011 according to the agreement with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCi) of Harvard Medical School analyzes genomic variation of various tumors to secure data for personalized treatment and apply new analysis technologies such as Onco-map/Onco-panel to patient treatment.
The Center for Development and Commercialization of Anti-Cancer Therapeutics (CDCAT) was also established to create a system of various patient-derived mammalian tumor xenograft models, which allows to quickly identifying the mechanism and efficiency of new targeted agents. We are playing a leading role in the Next Generation Precision Genomic Medicine Center sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to complete genome analysis for liver cancer and lung cancer among the most common cancers in Korea and expanding the research area to various carcinomas such as breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and stomach cancer.
To boost the treatment and research activities, the Center for Precision Cancer Medicine shares patient treatment cases through the Molecular Tumor Board built for the first time in Korea in 2015 in cooperation with medical professionals of the departments of oncology, pathology, and biomedical informatics, the Clinical Trial Center, and the ASAN-CCGD and tries to offer genetic information-based personalized canter treatment that is most effective for each patient faster and more efficiently.
