Plastic surgery is the specialized surgical division that manages the structural deformity, congenital anomaly,

and functional deficit. As it were, plastic surgery is the surgical department correcting congenital and acquired deformity to restore them close to the normal status in its function and appearance.
In this concept, plastic surgery is also called 'Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery'.

The term 'Plastic' is often replaced with 'Aesthetic'. Aesthetic surgery implies that it tries to make things superior to the average, while reconstructive surgery means that it tries to make things normalized.
In general, plastic surgery includes these two categories. However, it is hard to clarify and divide these areas. It is classified according to what is more emphasized on each procedure.

Nowadays, aesthetic surgery comes into the spotlight. However, wide concept of plastic surgery handles the congenital anomaly, acquired deformity, and functional deficit as mentioned above. At the same time, plastic surgery contributes to the patients' recovery of the self-confidence. In conclusion, plastic surgery improves the patients' quality of life.
Plastic surgery not only includes the facial aesthetic surgery but also deals with the whole body. All the followings belong to the province of plastic surgery.
