  4. Foot and Ankle Surgery

The Foot and Ankle Surgery Section at AMC Department of Orthopedic Surgery is one of Asia’s premier centers, delivering comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical care for a wide range of foot and ankle conditions.

Foot and ankle surgery is inherently complex, with each foot comprises 26 bones and 33 joints that must function harmoniously under dynamic, weight-bearing conditions essential to human locomotion. Our section is committed to managing this complexity through biomechanical precision and tailored treatment strategies.

We provide world-class care for both surgical and non-surgical disorders. Our team manages a broad spectrum of conditions, including fractures, arthritis, tendon injuries, deformities, tumors, and infections. We are particularly recognized for our advanced expertise in the management of diabetic foot complications and Charcot neuroarthropathy, two of the most challenging conditions in lower extremity care.

For patients with deformities such as flatfoot, equinocavovarus foot, or hallux valgus, we perform corrective osteotomies, tendon balancing, and realignment procedures. We also provide joint-preserving treatments, as well as arthroplasty and arthrodesis for degenerative joint diseases.

Our faculty members have published over 150 peer-reviewed articles and actively contribute to both international and Korean foot and ankle societies, helping to advance clinical knowledge and surgical innovation in the field.

Through clinical excellence, academic leadership, and a patient-centered approach, the Foot and Ankle Surgery Section continues to lead in innovation and care for complex foot and ankle disorders.
