The Hip and Trauma Surgery Section at AMC Department of Orthopedic Surgery is recognized as one of Asia’s leading centers for complex hip and pelvic surgery. As a testament to our excellence, we were ranked No. 3 in the “Hip Surgery & Hip Replacement” category of Newsweek’s Asia’s Top Private Hospitals 2025.

As part of Korea’s largest tertiary hospital, we perform over 800 major hip and pelvic procedures annually. These include cutting-edge minimally invasive surgeries, high-complexity cases, and revision arthroplasties referred from across the region. We are internationally recognized for our expertise in treating high-risk patients, such as those with autoimmune disorders, organ transplantation recipients, and elderly individuals with multiple comorbidities. Tailored perioperative protocols and multidisciplinary collaboration allow us to provide the safest and most effective outcomes for these high-risk patients.

Our section also serves as a key educational hub, functioning as the mother hospital of AO Trauma Korea. Each year, we host numerous international orthopedic fellows and observers who train under our highly experienced faculty. The section chair currently serves as the Chairperson of AO Korea under the AO Foundation.

In addition, our Osteoporosis Service delivers integrated care for patients with metabolic bone diseases, providing not only fracture treatment but also comprehensive bone health management. With over 200 peer-reviewed publications, our team maintains a strong academic presence, driving advancements in clinical knowledge and surgical innovation in hip preservation and reconstruction.
