We will offer hope for full recovery to pediatric cancer patients.

The Department of Pediatric Hematology & Oncology has experienced pediatric hematologists and oncologists who diagnose and treat oncologic and hematologic disorders in children and adolescents.

We take multidisciplinary approach for the fast and accurate diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cancers through a close cooperation with many relevant departments such as pediatric surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric urology, pediatric ophthalmology, pediatric psychiatry, pediatric rehabilitation medicine, orthopedic surgery, otolaryngology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, laboratory medicine, and nuclear medicine.

Equipped with the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation ward having cutting-edge aseptic rooms for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and the exclusive hematopoietic stem cell collection room, we increase the success rate of treatment of intractable diseases through allograft and autograft using bone marrow, peripheral blood, and cord blood.

AMC exclusively performs haploidentical transplantation which uses stem cells of a haploidentical family donor for pediatric patients who do not have a right hematopoietic stem cell donor. It gives new hope to young cancer patients. We also actively engage in developing new diagnosis and treatment technologies for pediatric cancers.

High efficiency particulate air filters are installed in every ward of our department to maintain an aseptic isolation environment differentiated from a general ward, which fosters the greatest environment for treatment. We operate a hospital school for childhood cancer patients and a rest area for patients from rural areas within the ward, and support the self-help group for childhood cancer patients - “Hanwooltari (meaning one fence).”

We aim to provide total care by considering physical, emotional, and social aspects to allow the children to fully recover from cancers and grow into healthy adults in cooperation with specialists in pediatric hemato-oncology, clinical nurse specialists, pharmacists, skilled nurse team as well as social workers, nutritionists, and pediatrics-related departments.
