Adult Emergency Center
The Adult Emergency Center is for adults over 15 years old with emergency symptoms. It intends to complete emergency treatment within five hours on average to determine whether to discharge, hospitalize or transfer the patient to other hospitals.
If a patient is admitted to the Adult Emergency Center, he has to go through the emergency registration / billing procedure. Then, at the patient classification room located in front of the registration desk, the patient will be assigned to the specific treatment zone depending on symptoms and vital signs.
The patient will receive treatment at each zone, and if necessary wait for hospitalization within 24 hours after the visit. If waiting continues due to lack of beds in the applicable department, the patient will wait at the emergent admission bed. The Adult Emergency Center has zones 1-7 and CPR room.
Zones 1-4 are places where patients who should be monitored due to unstable vital signs are treated. Those who need resuscitation including CPR will receive intensive care at the CPR room in the intensive-care zone. Zone 6 is designed for fast-track treatment and discharge like outpatients, so there are no beds here. Patients having stable vital signs at time of admission are assigned to this zone. If any problem requiring hospitalization is found or vital signs turn unstable, the patient will be transferred to other zones for treatment.
Lastly, in zones 5 and 7 are places where patients are waiting who need collaborative treatment or hospitalization despite stable vital signs at time of admission. First a patient receives treatment in zone 7, and then is moved to zone 5 if a bed is secured for further treatment or waiting for hospitalization.
