Vision in Research

AMC Department of Nuclear Medicine developed a new, high-yield production method for fluorine labeled radiopharmaceuticals for PET imaging. This technique was developed in conjunction with FutureChem Co., and was patented. We performed the world's first clinical efficacy studies using new tracers, F-18 FLT, F-18 FP-CIT and F-18 FES, for measuring cancer proliferation, the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, and the assessment of estrogen receptor for breast cancer, respectively. AMC has acquired new drug approvals for these radiopharmaceuticals from the Korean FDA.

Accomplishment

• AMC Department of Nuclear Medicine has received a KSA ISO9001 from Korea Standard Association for "Medical Services in Nuclear Medicine and The Manufacturing of Radiopharmaceuticals.“ This was the first certification of Nuclear Medicine Medical Services in Korea.
• Our PET and gamma imaging centers have acquired American college of Radiology (ACR) / American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) accreditation at 2011 and 2013, which were the first in Asia
• Our in vitro laboratory has attained KOLAS (ISO15189) accreditation since 2015
• Our radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility has acquired Good Manufactory Practice (GMP) from Korea FDA since 2017.
