AMC Heart Institute launched as a heart center in June 1989 when AMC was established, has been promoted to an independent heart institute and now become a globally-recognized medical center. Such world-class medical services and research competence are attributed to our efforts to build patient-first and patient-centered systems.

The Heart Institute has disease-specific specialized centers, supported by three departments of cardiology, cardiac surgery, and vascular surgery. The specialized centers include the Ischemic Heart Disease Center, the Heart Failure & Cardiac Transplantation Center, the Valvular Heart Disease Center, the Atrial Fibrillation Center, the Aortic Disease Center, the Peripheral Vascular Disease Center, the Cardiac Imaging Center, and the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention & Rehabilitation Center, which provide specialized and differentiated medical services through a multidisciplinary approach to each disease.

The Heart Institute is taking the lead in heart disease treatment and research at home and abroad. The institute performs the latest surgical techniques including hybrid cardiac surgery and minimally-invasive cardiac surgery and is recognized as a leader in the left main coronary artery stenting.
